If SMEnt put together a Dance Unit like Younique and S.M.The Performance that actually included female members. And not in a last minute of the MV (cough Younique cough) kind of way. In a way that they are equals. SM is not short of excellent dancers…
SNSD’s The Boys & I Got A Boy shows their ability to dance outside the basic Gee/Oh/Hoot/Run Devil Run. All the girls showed serious dance ability. Yuri, Hyo, Sooyoung, and even YoonA to an extent could easily hold their own with difficult and slightly more masculine choreography.
f(x)’s Amber and Krystal both have exactly the right look and amount of swag to be part of a solid collab dance unit.
Even B.o.A would add some serious badass to the mix.
So in the spirit of this I present my idea of what could be an amazing Dance unit (completely ignoring the ability to actually get them together since they are all so crazy busy lol!)
1. Yunho, Kai, Donghae, Taemin, Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung, Krystal.
Yunho is the badass leader. Kai and Taemin are prodigious dancers and I LOVE watching them dance. Donghae always impresses me with his facial expressions making it look so effortless. Hyoyeon is an obvious choice as far as I am concerned. Yuri looks so badass when she dances strong choreo. Not sure if that’s a facial expression thing but she really hits it for me. Sooyoung pulled off the boys so well and all her “rocker” photo shoots look really natural for her (even if it might not be!! it’s all about the looks and the talent haha). And Krystal has always maintained a good mix of feminine and badass in almost all of f(x)’s comeback styles.
I just find it sad watching these units completely ignoring the skills of the ladies in the company. Hyo being in Younique got me so excited and then she came in right at the end like a ‘oh hey look theres a girl here too!’. And she kicked butt at it! Would have been so nice to have had her be in the whole MV.
The boys rock and I would LOVE to see them dance with the girls as a professional equal unit. Although knowing SM’s style it seems unlikely they’d be able to pull it off without making it so obvious that the boys were different to the girls.
What unit style combinations would you like to see?? Just boys? Just girls? More like Younique (token girl)? More equal? Or maybe no combo at all?
(And I am well aware I’ve missed some excellent dancers… If I included my best dancer picks from every group there would be 17 people in it lol!)
